SHEILD, the Social, Humanitarian, Economical Intervention for Local Development, is a Lebanese nongovernmental organization working along a path to social justice. The association promotes economic and social advancement for vulnerable and marginalized populations across Lebanon, with a strong focus on women, children, and communities affected by armed conflict, natural disasters, and displacement. Its main operational areas include emergency response, prisons, and the judiciary, where protection and assistance initiatives are designed to accompany people in difficult and often overlooked situations.
Working in Beirut, South Lebanon, Tyre, and Mount Lebanon, SHEILD operates with neutrality and impartiality at the core of its policies, maintaining an independent position so that support reaches people on the basis of need alone. In times of crisis and war, the organization responds quickly, bringing relief and humanitarian assistance to affected populations while strengthening local capacity. Alongside emergency interventions, completed and ongoing units of work extend into education, training, livelihoods, and micro-enterprise support, including educational loans and capacity building for community and local organizations.
The careers page of SHEILD invites applicants to join the team, describing the organization as an equal opportunity employer that seeks to deliver the highest possible standards of service. Open positions and recruitment notices are published for field work, community engagement, fundraising, and monitoring activities. Roles may be based in Beirut, South Lebanon, Tyre, or Mount Lebanon, and published positions indicate contract type, location, and application deadline so that candidates can understand expectations before applying. Vacancies, requests for quotation, and general enquiries are surfaced in one place.
Beyond individual vacancies, the recruitment information reflects how SHEILD divides its work into sectors, units, and categories of intervention, from emergency relief and protection to community development, gender and equality programming, and economic advancement of vulnerable groups. Applicants can read about the organization's mission, vision, and historical snapshot to understand the direction behind each posting. Information on partners, projects, donors, publications, and completed units helps prospective staff see how field, community, and monitoring functions fit into a wider national and local framework of humanitarian and social work in Lebanon.
The site's design language matches the organization's editorial, high-contrast identity: white backgrounds paired with deep charcoal sections, serif headings set above a short teal rule, and generous spacing that keeps reading comfortable across long informational pages. A vivid turquoise accent appears in links, dividers, and a circular action button, while logos and portfolio marks stay flat and monochrome on darker backgrounds. The interface supports multiple languages, including English, French, Arabic, Spanish, German, and Russian, reflecting the multilingual communities the organization serves and the international partnerships that support its development and humanitarian mandate.
